[Trubmeisters] September Meeting Notes Date: 2003-09-05 10:22 Great meeting last night. Thank You Jeff and Mary Ann for opening your home to us. It is a very nice place. The deck is great. Too bad most people wouldn't go outside. The fire out back was worth the walk into the woods. That coyote howling a short distance away made for a curious experience. Here's the beverage review. cherry bounce - wow, cherry and vodka cherry wine - like unsweetened kool-aid, easy drinking india brown ale - hoppy hoppy hoppy hoppy 96 domain du lac (Wallersheim) - very dry, oaky 97 foch - too dry, needs a couple more years 97 northern-concord - semi sweet strong alcohol cider - quite good wheat - dark and actually drinkable porter - very good, caramel flavor, maybe light on body. Better than most. 98 foch beaujolais - slight vinegar, drink it quick elderberry - very smooth, semi-dry, 17% alcohol la cross city brewing city lager - Like I actually tried this one! There were a few other commercial brews. I recall Tire Biter from Flying Dog as one of them. There was enough home brew and wine that it wasn't necessary to break into that stash much. The food selection was also great as usual. pasta salad shredded italian beef pork shoulder garlic tators chips & brie dipping chips w/ spinach & cheese dip giant dobies smoked to perfection dried cwd meat salted extra heavy to kill the prions cookies from some bakery coconut nut bars mmmmmmm.... The attendance was about average. There was Jeff & Mary Anne, Jeff & Diana, Dan, George (where was Janet?), Steve & MJ, Betty & Brian & Noah, even Jim & Sue made the long trip back to see us. Our hosts had a guest who wouldn't tell me who she was. She is welcome back 'cause she fit in very well. As would all you lurkers out there in email land! We are concerned for Scott and Julie. They still have November on the schedule. I guess if no one hears from them by the next meeting, we should let someone else host the November meeting. Hope all is well with your family and that your kid is doing great. Maybe there are 2 rug rats by now? ;-) No meeting was called to order. Betty was stubborn enough to bring the presidential mug and not let it get passed on. Since she didn't even try to organize the herd, I think she must forfeit any ruling power she thinks she once had. (Oh yeah, private for Betty: AT&T Rules!) There was a discussion about taking a group outing to Ireland and pub crawling. Then they decided Belgium would be better. I protested since I don't speak Belgium. I don't think my vote carries much weight. Just my waist carries a lot of weight. There was a discussion about beer and yeast infections. It had been suggested that a woman can get a yeast infection from being pleasured by her mate if they are drinking home brew. To dispel this myth, I have asked every woman I know and none have ever heard of this before. I also asked our resident medical expert and she said it was not physically possible. There had to be a different cause than the yeast in the bottom of your favorite beverage. So rest (or would it be un-rest) assured women, you can't use that excuse for not letting your mate pleasure you any more! "Relax. Don't worry. Have a homebrew." Steve & Tony are the hosts for next month. We've missed seeing them for a while too. Hope they are still out there and reading this. Would hate to have us all wondering where to go next month. Then again, I'm sure someone will tell me where I can go! A Good Beer To All and To All A Good Beer, Jeff Kane
