[Trubmeisters] March Madness Date: 2003-03-07 12:52 Last night was another great gathering of the Trubmeisters. I need to thank my wife for all the work she did to make it happen. And is probably still doing some today. Something about sticky stuff all over the floor. Hmmmmm ..... I know the 4 hours of sleep I got last night are not doing me any justice. When I woke up this morning to take a shower, I almost fell down the steps! I soon realized I was not quite sober yet, so I took smaller steps, and held onto the railing. ;-) I had a short thought about calling my office and saying I couldn't come to work because I was still drunk. I figured that wouldn't go over very well. The bad part is Friday is my early start day of the week. You're wondering why you would care about my days troubles? Well, it is my way of saying I'm not very creative today. I'm just hanging on trying to make it to 3:00 so I can go home and collapse on the couch. Here goes ... We had our March meeting at the home of Jeff and Diana Kane. If I may say so, they are the greatest host and hostess the club has. ;-) Diana made some Jumbalia and a King Cake. Those are Mardi Gras foods. Both were weight watchers recipes. Now you know you ate diet food last night! And it was actually quite good. The other food was some assorted chips and dips. I'll miss some so forgive me. A bean and cheese dip, dill dip, avocado dip, and it seems like a 4th also. Maybe I was just seeing double when I looked. Sausage was also on the menu. A little CWD meat I believe. Some baked orange potatoes were laying around, but not for long. They were very good. There was a chocolate cake too. There was beer and beer and more beer. I think we had only 3 wines and Zero Meads! We were actually meadless. Is that allowed? The Barley wines made up for it. A 93 Old Crustacean, 95 Sam Adams Triple, 95 Thomas Hardy, 98 and 99 Big Foot, a 99 Old Something Ale, and a couple others I can't remember. We did bring out a small bottle of our 16 year old fermented Welch's grape juice too. We also had some Great Dane Stone of Scone Scotch Ale. There were quite a few bottles laying on the table. I could go home and send another note. :-) But I won't. Too much work. I think someone said there were 7 kegs. I know there were a lot, but I'm not sure if that is right. We had every thing from a pils to a stout. A lot of choices in between too. Even a great Belgium. Not a bad beer in the bunch. With the absence of George, there was an attempt by the alleged President Betty to remove him from office. By overwhelming vote, we removed her instead. She tried to bribe everyone in the club by giving them made up titles. We were not gullible enough to fall for it. She is still out and George will rise to the presidency once again. Steve did make it, and he is doing fine. We tried to make him President, but he declined due to his impending jail sentence. Since all politicians are criminals, we figure that shouldn't matter. Hence, Steve is the new President. There were 4 new members to the club last night. Zach, Steve, Connie, and Kim. Actually we met Connie and Kim last month, but they became official members when I added their email addresses last night. Zach and Steve came on their own, but I think our Tony and Steve couple were who asked them to join us. We had a vote, and Steve is now the President. Then we voted and Zach is now President. In the end, I think everyone is now President of the club. This should create much more organization than we had in the past. Being Mardi Gras time, we had to have some beads. All of the ladies in our group earned their beads. Photos were prohibited, so I can't show you what we all saw. We really missed George's wife. She would have fit right in last night. Some of the guys felt left out and wanted to earn beads too. We made sure each of them received what they had coming. Next month is April. (Surprised that I actually remember that?) What I do remember is that we will meet on the First FRIDAY, NOT Thursday next month. The meeting place is Lakefront Brewery for the Fish Fry. Details are yet to come. We have questions like will they allow us to bring our own beer? How about our own mead? See you ALL there. A Good Beer To All, And To All A Good Beer! Jeff Kane
