[Trubmeisters] November meeting notes Date: 2002-11-08 09:17 We had yet another great meeting! So much beer it was a good thing I took notes. My jobs is once again taking time away from my leisure time this month. So my notes will have to do. (And just a little bit more.) Rick and his wife JoEllen treated us to the McDonald's Party room at their house. We drank beer, ate food, and watched the crabs mate, all with Ronald McD staring at us from every corner. Thank You both for allowing us to use your home for our monthly gathering. We look forward to next years edition. We had the following beers: Pepper beer: With a real pepper. It had a bite, and made burping rather uncomfortable. sac mead: Mmmmmmm! What more can I say. It was just right. 4 year old Braggot: WOW! This beer was so good Jim & Sue should skip entering it in a contest. It has already won Best Of Show! rasp merlot: Very good wine for a sweet one. Strong Raspberry which is my favorite fruit. imPEACHment wine: Was served specially for our former president. melomel/pyment mix: We had half a bottle of each and mixed them into one. Kinda Sweet. ginger mead: As always, quite good. Sparkling too. white pyment: Dryer than the other meads there. Barely discernable grape flavor. Nice pyment. oat stout: Light body for a stout. Good flavor and smooth finish. I like it anyhow! wheat: Yeah right, Like I tasted this one. :-) b: Hmmmmm. I think it was good, but way to many to keep track of at this point. The cap had a "b" on it. I think that meant it was beer! amstel light: What the **** is this doing here? pale ale : Very Pale, Very Ale. I think the meads are starting to warm me up. :-) keg of check pils: I checked, and it was a pils. grays honey: Although I do like Gray's, I skipped since I had it before. capitol crap: That long haired hippy freak Kirby can take all of his beers and shove them you know where. Although he and I are still not on talking terms, and I am still boycotting his beer, someone else said this was a good beer. I doubt it though. I think his "craft brewed" hop free beer all sucks. more wheat plus others: There was a cooler outside that had a bunch of not-well labeled beers. I assume there were versions of them already on the table inside. bb: We have a new member. His name is Andy. His first beer was an Amber. It was 3 weeks old, and had been shook up during shipping. The yeast flavor was there, but the beer was otherwise very good. I thought a little light on the hops for an Amber, but as first beers go, I give this one high marks! Good job Andy, and welcome to the club. Hope to see you more often. BTW: One of the other members wants to know if you are single? You can call Steve at the store and let him know. wheat: I was told this was Bim's (spelling?) award winner. I could barely taste the wheat. I see why it won! Is that enough beer for you! I know it was for me. If it weren't for the food, I would have been stumbling at this point. Here's the food list. bbq pork: Shredded pig flesh and a side of bbq sauce. Buns and sliced bread to go with it. chicken: Someone fired up a grill! This tasted and looked grilled. Not sure how Rick did it. focaccia: This months edition was tomato and rosemary. I'm not sure what part of Rosemary, but I think she was ok with sharing. crackers & dip: Nice dip. I liked it a lot. Not sure who made it, but great job. nuts: A couple of cans of nuts to go with the rest of 'em. We had some visitors. Not beer makers, but they like to drink at least! Seems Rick has friends after all. A fellow named John and someone who's name is either Andy also, or my notes got really messed up. Sorry to the fellow who's name I missed. He's not on email anyhow, so he won't know. :-) A new couple was Sandy & Brian. I guess they are not married to each other either. Way to go. (High 5) We like people who are not married to each other. Lots of those in this club. Like Steve is not married to Betty, George is not married to MJ, and Brian is not married to Janet. The list goes on and on. Dan's new email address is his old one with wi.rr.com instead of his old provider. I've already submitted it to the spam source spreader script. I subscribed to a few porn sites using his new email address too. Hope he doesn't mind. The presidential mug has to be demoted. It's significance must be lowered otherwise Betty will have nightmares. Seems she is so attached to it her hair started falling out when it disappeared for a little while. Now what's left of her hair stands straight on end, and won't lie back down. If you see her, talk to her very gentle like, and let her know everything's gonna be alright. (The guys in the white jackets will be there any minute now.) Betty is willing to accept that her term of office has been terminated. But, she insists that she get a new title to replace it. Please bring suggestions to the group for discussion. I will begin by offering her the title of "Secretary of Intern Supply". The job description is she must supply all meetings with interns and cigars. How about "President of Paranoia"? Her job description would be to explain how anyone can break into your computer even if it is unplugged from the wall. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) Everyone come up with one. We'll all vote on which one she gets to have. Anyone handy and can make her a plaque? There are products that can prevent plaque build up you know. We talked about doing a table for the Food & Froth at the Museum. It is Feb 8th from 7-10. They will give us a free table to promote our club. We need to supply about 15-20 gallons of beer in return. We also would get 5 free admissions to the event. We have to have someone at our booth the whole time serving the beer too. Anyone interested? Dan has informed me that he has a new supply of T-shirts! We'll bring back an old tradition. The first person to recall what shirt he wore last night (during the next meeting) gets a prize. We are all out of virgins, so you'll have to pick something else unless we find a new supply. Oh yeah, you need to replenish the prize box too! It does not matter if you attended last night or not. The new schedule is out and we assigned people since we know you always show. If you can't do your month, let me know so someone can have that slot. We used to have problems getting a place to go. Now we don't have enough meetings in a year to let everyone host that wants to! Let's start meeting twice a month? :-) Scott & Julie, We wanted to add you, but were not sure when. We miss you and want to see you and the kid again. At least let us know you are all doing well! When's the next one due? Jeff & MaryAnne, We just picked a day for you. Hope you don't mind. :-) Here's the list: 2003 Jan Brian & Betty Feb Larry Mar Jeff & Diana Apr Lake Front 1st Friday May Steve & MJ Jun Jeff & Fay Jul George & Janet 2nd wknd Aug Jim & Sue Sep Jeff & Mary Anne Oct Steve & Tony Nov Scott & Julie Dec Ken 2004 Jan Brian & Betty Next month we are meeting at Ken's place in Brown Deer. Be sure to bring the debauchery at it's best. There is nothing like a party in the Reverend's house! One last thing ... Anyone interested in a Friday evening at McCarthy's? If you are not familiar, it is a small place with a typical Wisconsin fish fry friday. Except that the owner thinks he is funny and entertaining. He does a stand up act with his relatives and gets the audience involved. Lot's of fun for the cost of a few Guinness' and a Jagermeister or 2. The fish is pretty good too. Did I mention he is a native Irishman? The humor has an Irish bent to it. And he challenges anyone in the audience to drink a pint of Guinness faster than he does. How about the 13th or the 20th of December? We can go in January instead/also if December is it's typical bad month. The place is small, only about 15 people will fit. I'm not sure if they take reservations either. A Good Beer To All, And To All A Good Beer, Jeff Kane
