[Trubmeisters] July meeting notes part 2 Date: 2002-07-16 10:32 As an incentive to get more people to show up next year, I thought I would do a more thorough report of the weekends events. The camp out was a 3 day party. We need to come up with a good name for it. Since everyone except the used home sales people slept indoors, it really wasn't a camp out. More like a vacation! George and Janet offered the many rooms of their cottage to the down trodden who just needed a bed and a cold shower. Most people showed up Friday night, but some waited till Saturday. Since we spent the nights at our own place, I can't speak for early morning events, nor what happened Sunday. First was the tour. This place is more than a cottage. It is a home away from home. There is the master bedroom with walk in closet. Then you can go upstairs to the teenager hang out area. It is a very hip looking balcony with plenty of head space to let the smoke rise. It has a couple of mattresses so you can sit cross legged and tell ghost stories or what ever else teenagers do when mom and dad are gone. ;-) Back down stairs and you are in the dining room. Very roomy and bright. To one side is the kitchen with all the amenities. Big fridge, stove, and a sink. Next to it is the bathroom. A shower, toilet and sink fit just right. OK, so there could be a few more inches for fat people like me to use the toilet. You normal people probably had no problems. Back through the kitchen and down 3 steps and you are in a great room. To your right is a single couch. Straight ahead is a beer fridge. To the left is the living room portion. A few chairs, and a couple big couches that make into beds. High ceilings and lots of windows make this a comfortable place to be even when it was in the 80's! (And I don't mean the 1980's.) George has done a lot of work to make this cottage look great. I almost forgot the basement. It is a completed one. There are a dozen or more beds laying on the floor. I am not sure, but I think a whole army regiment could bivouac in there. Outside they have a large yard with many white chairs surrounding a fire pit big enough to roast a whole pig over. Or a dozen cats, you choose. There was a fire most of the time we were there. Lots of firebugs in this club, so if you like a good fire without having to tend it, this was the place to be. Brian and Betty set up a tent in the front yard like white trailer trash tends to do. I think George is still trying to get them to move back out. If it weren't fer the sheep they brought with, I am sure he wouldn't mind so much. There was plenty of beer, wine, and food. I don't think anyone went without or was left wanting. One memorable item was the smoked horse's dong. Never had that before, and it wasn't all that bad. Very tender, and full flavored. Thicker than I expected too. I think Dan brought it. There were many chips and dips too. Not sure what everyone did for breakfast. We ate on our own. Had to check our kids anyhow. There were growlers, bottles and kegs. A regular assortment like any other club meeting. So what did we do all weekend? Well, we talked and drank mostly. There were some silly word games played. Someone would say something, and the next person in the room had to say something else. One style involved single words, and the other was a sentence at a time. People were cheating and moving to different seats. It seems there were some magic mushrooms from the pizza delivery place. Some people made up stuff that just made no sense at all. Other times they were laughing and no one else could figure out why it was funny. I hate mushrooms. Now I regret not trying some. ;-) Did I say pizza? You are probably wondering how many people head to the outdoors and then order delivery pizza? Well, I think there was 13 of us. ;-) First was the fight over what to get, and then after hours of debate, it was given as a executive order from our "president in waiting", Janet, that everyone would order their own! So we did. Seems it didn't matter, because no one got what they ordered anyhow. So much for plan b, c, d, e or f! Our "president on her way out", Betty, wanted to vote on something. So we voted her out and Janet in. Janet still does not know about this, so don't tell her. Oh yeah, Betty does not know about it either, so don't tell her too. We finally made a vote that the whole weekends food be paid for out of the treasury. Those who were not there missed out. You didn't get the treasury to pay for your party. We each had to kick in a little since our club funds are so low, but that's OK too. On Saturday, George gave everyone a boat ride despite his earlier statement he wouldn't. He justified it by saying he wasn't drunk yet, and it was still OK. Some of us did a little swimming, but I got yelled at because the water level went up 3 inches when I jumped in. The water was great. The bottom was very nice sand, the water was clear, and was really good swimming. There were a few fireworks just to brighten up the night sky. If we do it again, we will need more. Lot's more! Janet and George have a new baby. Her name is Samantha. Cute little thing, but I really wonder about her pedigree. Looks a lot more like Steve than George. She has George's nose, but she has Steve's back. I never saw a baby eat so much dirt and rocks before. I was amazed at how mad Janet got each time she tried to swallow another rock. I guess Dr bills can get expensive. George broke his own rule by bringing her. I guess we will forgive him since leaving an infant at home alone is not always an option. Those present: Dan & Lisa & Sue Brian & Betty George & Janet Jeff & Fay Kevin & Pam (er ... I mean what's her name) Jeff & Diana For those that didn't make it, you missed a great time. It was really nice, and wasn't your average outdoors event. I think we should do this again next year. We have a cottage up there too, so we can do it there if George and Janet can't/won't. Either way, I am pretty sure all enjoyed themselves, and we give our sincerest thanks and appreciation for our hosts and hostess for their hospitality. See you all next month at Jeff and Fay Neu's place.
