[Trubmeisters] April Meeting Notes Date: 2002-04-05 13:43 My 2 month vacation from writing notes has been refreshing. I really appreciate the great job others have done in my absence. My high pressure work has relented, and I now have time to write again. (IE, my boss is on vacation today. :-) ) Scott & Julie were wonderful hosts. The little rug rat was delightful too. He barely even cried. After three bottles of beer, he fell right asleep and we didn't hear from him again all night. At 4 months old, it was nice to see him finally. Maybe now we will see more of our favorite new parents again each month. Oh yeah, that wild ass dog didn't even bark once! The beer was great as usual. Scott offered us the last bottle of the Ginger Mead we have all been sampling the past couple of years. It was so smooth down to the last drop. He also had another mead and a cream ale to share. There was an Oatmeal Stout that I thoroughly enjoyed. Plus a keg of Porter that tasted like chocolate milk. The other keg had some medium brown colored stuff. I am not sure just what it was. Dan had his triple Belgium now that it is almost matured enough to drink. It is much better this month than last. I brought some blended wine and some very old raspberry wine. The blend was semi-sweet and at that just right age. I have a hundred bottles. Help me drink it up! We also brought a New Glarus Cherry Belgium. Last one from my stash. You missed it if you weren't there. Scott had a fridge stuffed with commercial beers too. There was no shortage last night. The food was outstanding as always. Julie made a BBQ and had buns to put it on. So good and rich. Not too spicy, and not too sweet. I tried not to make a pig of myself. There were chips and dips and cigar sized pretzels. Larry (I think) brought some home made bread that didn't last very long. And Katie made brownies that she said took 2 hours just to get the dough prepared. I think she needs to quit answering the phone while she's cooking. They had an interesting consistency to them. Not cake like, and not dry and hard. Very rich, and good too. Steve was being dragged across the desert in nothing but a pair of shorts at 50 MPH. Don't let him show you his scabs when he gets back. With the cat away, the mouse was fair game. Since Janet was missing also, MJ and George were having long discussions about something. At one point I think I saw both of them smiling. Not sure what they were really doing. Janet has withdrawn form her coerced position of President leaving a gaping hole behind. Although there is someone who still wants the job, we are waiting for the right "man" to fill that hole. Any volunteers? We were visited by the Pillsbury Dough Boy. He was so cute. He had fluffy slippers on, and a shirt that said "Poke Me And You Die". Hmmmmm ... Sounds like a Dan Pals T-shirt to me! Speaking of Dan, he gave someone $100,000 instead of that house he wanted to give away. He was hustling people to give him more money to collect on that same scam again. Next month I will have some property in the pacific ocean to raffle. I am pretty sure none of you will win it, but you can give me $100 each for a ticket anyhow! :-) We are going to fill Janet's wildest dreams in July. I know how excited she is that we are descending on her cottage like locusts. It seems the main concern people have is the facilities. There is a large lake near by, and that means easy access to both toilet and bath tub like facilities. Just step right in! George says he's setting up a curtain and a ditch for quick filling near some trees. Inside I guess he has a bathroom most of you can use. I am told I would not fit through the door nor the space between the wall and the shower called a toilet. Then again, not many of you are over 300 lbs. like me either. So, you should be OK. We closed on our cottage last week. That means 20 minutes away is more surface area for people to crash. Just need someone to drive up there after all the beer is gone! We need a head count by June so plans can be made. This really will be a fun event, and you should try to make it if possible. We were a little short of members at this meeting. I guess Steve's April's fools joke worked. Some people didn't show up, and they must have been at Steve & MJ's instead. The good news is you get to go there again next month. Unless Steve gets his priorities mixed up again, and plans another deadly exercise on the same night, we will be at their place on May 2nd. I'll stop now. See you next month. A Good Beer To All, And To All A Good Beer! Jeff Kane
