[Trubmeisters] July Meeting Notes Date: 2001-07-06 10:37 Thank you Scott, Julie, and Bubba for hosting our monthly meeting. The weather was beautiful. Once the Sun went down, the miserable heat disappeared, and the chill of Wisconsin moved in. There was no need at all for ice to cool the brews. Small crowd since summer has taken hold. Only about a dozen people. Those who missed this one, missed some of the best BBQ I have eaten in a long time. Julie really did a great job. We also had cheese and crackers and some venison sausage. I did not see anyone trying the horseradish sauce this time. The beer was plentiful and varied. No Meads, but there were 5 wines. I also brought a Ginger Ale from St Marteen. No alcohol, yet spicy enough to make it worth sampling. Scott brought out his Cream Ale again. I missed this one last month, so I was pleased to get to sample it. Wonderful brew. Like drinking Cream Soda! There were a couple kegs with a brown ale and a hairy dog brew. There were so many bottles with 2 letter cryptic labels, that I will just say that there were no beers you would have wanted to miss. Oh yeah, I can't forget the beer liquor. Once again, our well traveled member has imported some schnapps from Germany (I think.) This one was smoother tasting than the last batch, but the aroma still is a little short on the hops. :-) Bubba, being the smart dog he was, picked Steve out of the crowd, and proceeded to gnaw on his legs. When he didn't find meat, he just barked (and barked, and barked, and barked, ...) and made sure Steve knew his place in the house was less than that of a dog. It was quite entertaining to see Bubba jump up and growl every time Steve came within his sniffer's range. There were some photo's taken, but I think Steve deleted all the good ones. Something about the hair being all shaved off. I'm really not sure what that meant. I am not sure what happened to George's blackmail photo shoot, but when Janet finds out about it, he is going to be looking for a new woman. Any takers? I hear he is buying a doll in the next few years. His wife said he could have an 18 year old when she is 70. If he buys her now, she may be old enough in time. Steve was reprimanded for not bringing a supply of fireworks. He said all he had left was the boring ones. And besides, his insurance policy is not up to date. The police have told him before that the next time they catch him starting peoples houses on fire, they will lock him up. We are all looking forward to that. Scott and Julie didn't mind, since their house is really nice, and they didn't want to loose it this soon. MJ said she did not want to get drunk, and then proceeded to sit on George's lap. I don't know about the rest of you, but I know I would have to be REALLY drunk to ever sit on George's lap. Steve offered him $100 for his services, but George turned him down. Said he would do it for free any day. As the Moon rose, we had a wonderful discussion about atmospheric illusions and the refraction of light. Bet you didn't know we have such a physical sciences streak in our club. Maybe next month we will all bring telescopes, and stare at the sun. The wimps in the group decided it was too chilly outside, and we migrated indoors. Only a few bugs followed us. Probably because it was too cold for them to fly in the first place. But Bubba sure liked the idea that we were all back in his domain again. He let us know who was really in charge. Such a loveable little puppy. Unbelievable how many teeth you can fit in a 1/2 inch square area. We had some real meeting time. It is good to hear that Betty is doing well. Making her laugh does not cause as much pain as it used to. So, it was not as much fun for the rest of us either. She talked about a deal from Brew Your Own where they double their normal subscription price to $30, and then kick back $15 of it to our club if we get 10 suckers ... er ... members to buy at the inflated price. No takers jumped up and said they were interested. There was a mention of State Fair Contest. Let's get some members of this club to take prizes this year. I sent a link earlier that has the entry forms on it. Speaking of State Fair, I am involved in it yet again. (Surprise) Let me know if you can volunteer some time to the booth. Same deal as last year. You will be supplied with a ticket if you volunteer 4 hours in the booth. The board is starting to negotiate with us on free tickets. Next year may be harder to get them, so take advantage of it this year. Finally, we need judges and judge learners for the contest in 2 weeks. Let me know if you are interested. I can get you in touch with Larry Tischer who is the judging coordinator this year. Seems to me there was another trivial topic that came up for discussion, but I don't recall what it was. Anyhow, we did discuss the web site, or the need for one. Betty will be working on building some pages from what we already have, and I will post them at some site. You will see a link come out when it is ready. This will be a place to find out who has the next meeting, and when. We want to put up some pictures to stare at too. Finally, I briefly mentioned the upcoming grand opening of Zur Krone in Thiensville. I still don't know the exact date, but we may need a field trip to the place to see if they live up to the old tradition of lots of great beer available, or just flop and have MilBudCoors only. :-( Next month is August 2nd at Jim and Sue's. Another chance to meet some dogs. But this time, they will be real ones, instead of 1/4 sized toy models. Enough for now, gotta get ready for Summer Fest. See you all next month. And some of you lurkers, show up at a meeting, You are ALWAYS welcome. We don't bite hard, and we always have lot's of fun. Doh ... I almost forgot! Sex - Steve propositioned George (much to his wife's objections.) Drugs - Betty got cut last month, and I am sure needed some. Politics - We were in Germantown and had a Auschwitz Rotweiler in the yard. Religion - Steve liked the Auschwitz Rotweiler. Or was it the other way around. -They prayed to Jesus. (I was laughing so hard because the person they prayed for was Jewish.) Rock and Roll - I listened to that on the way there.
